Integration & Communication

Posted in Blog

This month sees a further integration of our sales and design processes and the arrival of Justin Herd, our new technical sales administrator.  With a background of bespoke design and production in Process Engineering and Naval Architecture/ Manufacture, Justin aims to bring a connective understanding of the sales- design- manufacture process and further maintain our commitment to providing world class products and services.

“As we develop and integrate our Sales, Design and Manufacturing Processes and extend the use of CAD CAM alongside design & sales reference data basing, we increase our ability to understand our customers’ needs and industry specific requirements.” J.Herd

As we integrate the ‘Solidworks’ software into our design process we are seeing a wealth of opportunities to not only improve our efficacy and efficiency, but also to improve design communication with our customers through the use of 3D rendering and animation.   We are also making use of ‘edrawings’ to provide active documents which allow our customers to review, rotate designs in 3D, create section drawings, mark up and measure.

New Design Software

Posted in Blog

We have recently acquired the SOLIDWORKS suite of software to enable us to increase design productivity. The software capabilities include advanced photorealistic rendering, automated cost estimation, eDrawings® Professional collaboration capabilities, automated design and drawing checking, and a sophisticated components and parts library.

This should enable us to work more easily with clients with existing models, but also clients who do not have CAD facilities can receive assistance in the design of their parts and the tooling needed to produce them.

Another Busy Month

Posted in Blog

This month's major challenge occurred when the end-user of a large sub-sea project needed accelerated delivery of parts being produced by our Offshore division, ahead of the agreed schedule. Utilising our newly enhanced tooling department to its full capacity along with CADCAM manufacturing techniques, we managed to produce a suite of tools in record time. Arranging production to maximise our output, we managed to meet the client's new schedule ahead of time without disrupting our existing customers' schedules.

Kay-Dee are pleased to announce the placement of our first apprentice, James Blackwell, pictured here (right) with Shaun Turner, as assistant technician to help with our very busy, recently expanded tool making department.

James became the 100th apprentice to be placed through the Bradford Apprenticeship Training Agency.

We look forward to channelling his enthusiasm in ways that will be beneficial to him, ourselves and, very importantly, our customers.
